Here are some pictures showing the condition of the instrument when I first got it home.  At the time I picked it up, it had been stored in a loft studio in Hoboken, NJ for several years.  Before that, who knows...?

Front view.  I remember the first time I saw an M400 up close - I was probably 17 years old.  It seemed too small and simple, too much of a toy, to be the source of such a rich and powerful sound.  Now it just looks quaint.
Side shot.  The discolorations in front of the control panel are just that.  The case does not have any major gouges or dents.
Top removed.
Ditto.
Keyboard removed exposing the tapes.
Closer shot of the tapes.  Notice that one of the tapes has been spliced.
Same shot from an angle.  Haven't been brave enough yet to actually remove the tape frame, partly because I'm not sure how to store it.  I don't have a case for it.
Motor controller.  I'm assuming this is the older type and will need to be updated.
Control Panel.  All hardware appears to be original and accounted for.
Tag on the back panel showing the serial number.
So far, the only problem I've noticed is that the base of the case frame has warped up in the center just enough so that I can't remove the lower front panel.  It won't lift high enough to clear the bottom lip.
